Hind-D was born at the end of Summer 2005 by Chris (bass) and Sam (drums) after many months of jamming in Chris's garage with friends.
Within a few weeks Tom (guitar) & John (guitar) joined the band and they started to jam to the odd cover - it soon became obvious they were all eagre to write original material and get out playing in venues across the North West.
The band remained nameless for a good 6 months until "Project Mayhem" was decided upon in Dec '05. The name was only with them for a very short amount of time. "Hind-D" was decided upon in Jan '06, conjured from a reference to the PlayStation action game "Metal Gear Solid".
With them all being relatively new musicians, with no stage experience or the ability to sing & play at the same time, a search for a singer commenced. After months of auditions and moments of dampened spirits, Rob joined the band (March '06) to finally make Hind-D a 5 piece.
While the auditions were taking place, the band were hard at work writing original material. It quickly transpired that, although their music was moderate to heavy rock, the majority of their tracks don't only cater for different tastes, the genre quite often changes mid song! Every member brought different influences to the practice room - ranging from hard hitting rap-metal to indie rock to mellow acoustic harmonies.
Hind-D cut their teeth at Jenx Blackout on Thursday 11th May 2006 - judging by the response they received, they believe you'll be seeing a lot more of them in the future...
Finding a direction is one of the hardest things a collaboration of new musicians has to do... unfortunately finding that direction takes its toll on band members, and Hind-D came to a mutual decision to part company with their singer Rob and guitarist Tom in June / July 2006. Both partings were amicable and the band remains friends with them.
The search for a guitarist / singer re-commenced…
Luckily Chris was friends with a guitarist named Johnny who plays for a local Band named Devil 2 Pay. Johnny came along, liked what he heard and joined the band almost immediately.
After a long, hard search for a singer - Rob Douglas came back for another audition. Shortly after the band offered Rob the place as lead vocalist again.
During this time a few songs were dropped from the set due to the recent change in direction. The majority of the set now consists of fast paced, energetic rock / metal.
Their first "come back" gig took place on 25th Jan 2007, which was a massive success.
After a few gigs, it became aparent that Rob was unable to deliver the vocal style that Hind-D required and the band, once again, parted company with him.
The toil of trying to find the perfect singer for Hind-D took its toll on them all, and on 21st May 2007, John decided to leave the band. Even though the band had never been fully happy with it's line up, Hind-D had gradually become a more serious affair... and eventually not something John was willing to commit as much time as it required.
John had been with the band since the beginning, had written a lot of material and even contributed greatly to that he hadn't written! John would leave a gap, but Chris, Sam and Johnny's drive and love of their music spurred them on...
Hind-D decided to continue with one guitarist - a new experience for them all. Songs were re-worked and auditions for a singer commenced.
Just over a year after Hind-D's first gig, and nearly 2 years since their formation, the band asked Vicky Spencer to join the ranks as front woman and lead vocalist. Not only did Vicky come down to the audition extremely well prepared, she fit right in with the band's attitude and direction, and not to mention blew Chris, Sam and Johnny away with her unique & powerful voice.
The response to Vicky's influence on the band has been nothing but positive. Hind-D finally feel like a complete band and are ready to take the world on from the stage.
