2008 & 2009 Sunday 4th Jan 2008 @ 3:15pm

This update has been a long time coming, but here it is at last. We've had a fairly uneventful 2008, but that's going to change in 2009.

So, what was the news throughout last year? Nothing productive really. As some of you may know, our guitarist Johnny, left Hind-D in October / November as he'd been planning to move away to be with his loved one for quite some time. Obviously his departure left us with a rather large hole, and we started looking for two guitarists to replace him. We had a few jams with guitarists from various different backgrounds, along with quite a few let downs as per usual, but it didn't take us long to find someone to fill in with the rhythm duties.

And so we welcome Mike O'Connor from Fleetwood to the band with open arms. Mike has been playing guitar for 3 years, but hadn't had the pleasure of playing in a band and still hasn't played on stage. We aim to rectify that minor issue very soon, as he's been working hard learning our songs and he's also taken on some lead parts.

We haven't yet found a lead player in order to thicken out our sound, but we're soldiering on regardless. I've been busy booking gigs for the past few days, and dates will be confirmed shortly.

The album mixing is almost done, but was put on hold for most of the year as I've been working away or just been plain busy / lazy. I'm going to pick it up again soon, so it shouldn't be too long before it's ready.

We've been working on new songs recently too - they're coming out a little like Tool / Isis / Mastodon at the moment as their music is more interesting to me than anything else right now. We'll see how they fair when we play them live before passing judgement eh? :)

So, happy New Year to everyone and let's hope this year we do something a bit more interesting with ourselves than just practice!

Upcoming Album Sunday 30th Mar 2008 @ 05:00pm

For those of you who've followed us for the last 3 years, and liked anything we've done, we have a treat. After many months of recording, our debut album is almost here.

"Suppress The Progress" will be our first offering to the world and its onions. Featuring 9 tracks of hard rock, influenced by the likes of Black Label Society, Alter Bridge, Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit, Iron Maiden & Metallica.

We finished recording around the end of February, and are working as hard as time will allow to get it mixed, before we send it off for a final master.

We've had a lot of fun recording the album, as well as the inevitable "hard times" I'm sure all bands have when they're trying to achieve the perfect sound.

Suppress The Progress will contain the following tracks:

Emancipation
Regret
Vicious Cycle
Simulation
Live Legendry
Parasites
Catharsis
Daily Dose
Disillusioned

Subject to discussions / design, we will have CDs on sale with attractive covers, lyrics and various other bits of useless information, and we'll be offering downloads from our website.

Blackpool Gazzette RockQuest 2007 Sunday 11th Nov 2007 @ 9:00pm

We've just got confirmation that we're playing in HEAT ONE of this year's Blackpool Gazzette's RockQuest competition.

So, get yourselves down to The Merry England Bar, North Pier, Blackpool THIS FRIDAY (16th Nov 2007) around 8pm - we'll need all the support we can get!

- Spikeh

So, that's it... Mon 22nd Oct 2007 @ 10:00pm

We've finished gigging for the year and are concentrating on getting some songs finished off, then recording them as an album.

This of course , is subject to future bookings - we'll be playing gigs if we get asked to / the gazette rock quest if we get on the bill.

Watch this space for the DVD - it's in its final stages of production... it's looking good :)

Last pair of gigs this year Sun 30th Sept 2007 @ 3:30pm

Last nights gig went well - though the lack of advertising (on our part) was evident - wasn't many people there, but a good time was had by all and most of us got very drunk :) Not to mention both Kraul and The Same Mistakes were brilliant - a little bit of a warm up for the BOTB we've got lined up in Feb '08!

We've decided to take time out from practicing twice a week and gigging for a few months to concentrate on getting an album / demo recorded and released. So the next two gigs we have will probably be the last for this year - after which we'll be getting more gigs out of town.

So if you haven't seen us yet, or HAVE seen us and fancy catching us again, you should get down to either 6th Oct or 11th Oct gigs at Riffs as you won't have much of a chance after that for a while :)

More Site Updates & Tonights Gig

Sat 29th Sept 2007 @ 3:30pm

I've updated the band page again with some new photos and added the photos from last Sunday's gig to the gallery page.

Also, Kraul will be playing with us at West Coast tonight along with The Same Mistakes, which is good :)

Fleetwoodstock & Site Updates

Wed 26th Sept 2007 @ 9:00am

What a gig! Absolutely amazing venue and stage - we got the gig professionally video recorded and I hooked my PC up to the sound desk so I could get some quality audio. Watch this space for the DVD, pics and review coming soon.

A big thanks goes out to Simon & Phil for organising Fleetwoodstock - truely a great weekend and excellent experience for all the bands playing. Not sure how much they raised for the various charities that the proceeds go to, but I'm sure the site will be updated soon enough!

In other news - I've updated the Band page and moved the gigs / gallery pages around as needed for gigs.

Our next gig is THIS Saturday at West Coast Rock Café. This'll be our last gig in Blackpool town centre for a while as we're going to be gigging away from the Fylde after we've recorded our album. We'll be on at 11:30pm and we're playing with The Same Mistakes & another band yet to be announced (had a cancellation and trying to arrange one asap).

Get yo'self down, 'foo.

Last Nights Gig & More Pics from 30th June Fri 27th July 2007 @ 12:00pm

Uploaded a mini review of the gig last night + a few more pics for the last Jenx gig we did on 30th June (courtesy of Jules at Jenx).

I should have some pics of last nights gig soon too, but don't hold your breath!

We're having August off as I'm away for most of it - but when I come back I should be getting more gigs booked out of town. Watch this space :)

New track online, with vocals! Tue 30 June 2007 @ 12:30pm

Managed to get a new track online at last - it's called "Catharsis" and it has the lovely Vicky doing her thang over it ;)

Get your arse over to the music section and wrap your listening tackle around it, right now!

- Spikeh

THE gig to be at tonight Tue 30 June 2007 @ 9:00am

- Spikeh

A few site changes Tue 19 June 2007 @ 6:00pm

Just a short one - Uploaded a few pics I found for 16th March at Riffs, added more detail to Vicky's profile and added a few gigs to the gigs page. More gigs coming soon!

- Spikeh

I feel stronger... Fri 8 June 2007 @ 10:00am

I've been working my hind off (get it? :P) for the last 2 years to get Hind-D to a state where we can gig on a regular basis and play our beautiful music to all the beautiful metal heads around the country (and you never know, maybe even further ;P). As from today, what seemed to be a dream for so long is now a reality.

It's been a relatively short auditioning period this time around - had a few potentials, and a few let downs as always, but we are extremely happy to announce that last night we asked Vicky to join the band, and she gladly accepted. I speak for all of us when I say we're extremely happy with the decision and are looking forward to gigging as soon as possible!

So, as always we'll be getting Vicky up to speed with the new material, adding a few more songs to our arsenal and booking gigs in the not so distant future.

This also means that we'll be back to recording soon - and you'll all FINALLY hear our recorded stuff with lyrics! Demo CDs etc will be available as soon as poss...

Personally I feel the best I have for a long time - but not sure what to do with myself now! It's been an up hill struggle for the last 2 years, but I'm glad it's paid off :)

So thanks to those of you who put up with the constant singer advert spamming, and thanks to those of you who came down for an audition.

See you all at the newly booked gigs ;)

- Spikeh

Another one bites the dust Wed 22 May 2007 @ 11:00am

Last night, after almost 2 years with the band, John informed us he was leaving. The search for that elusive singer has taken it's toll on him and we've become a little too serious for what he wants from a band.

Personally it saddens me greatly to see John go - he's been a fundamental part of Hind-D since it's incarnation and has written and contributed greatly to a hell of a lot of our material.

As always, we remain friends and I'm sure he'll be coming to future gigs etc :) We've decided not to replace John and give things a go with a single guitarist for a while... and give potential singers the option to play a buit of guitar.

From all of us: Thanks for the past 2 years John - We've had an awesome laugh with you in the band, you daft racist ;) You'll be sorely missed... and we wish you luck in your future ventures :)

- Spikeh

And so it begins again... Wed 11 Apr 2007 @ 9:20pm

So, after much discussion and deliberation, we've decided to take a step back and start to audition vocalists again.

We'd like thank Rob Douglas for spending the last few months with us - it's been fun, and at we've all gained valuable gig experience. We wish Rob all the best in his acoustic endeavours and whatever other projects he takes on :) If anyone is looking for a vocalist, drop us a line with your MySpace or whatnot and we'll pass it on to Rob.

So - the search for a vocalist for Hind-D recommences. I'm currently in the middle of mixing 4 more of our songs for upload, all of which we have lyrics for, but we're more than willing to let the new member write their own to replace them.

Looking for someone who:

  • can sing melodic rock as well as scream with the best of 'em.
  • has on-stage attitude and isn't afraid to show it.
  • can deal with the crowd
  • is NOT a time waster
  • will travel to Blackpool once / twice a week for practice, recording, writing material & initial gigs
  • will contribute to the band and allow other band members to suggest changes to their contributions (we all write our music together)
  • doesn't let their ego get in the way of the band

Our music is generally agressive and so's our stage "act" :) Our singer should be able to reflect that...

So, if you like what you hear on the music page (and keep checking, as our newer songs will be online soon), get in touch and we'll arrange a jam as soon as possible!

- Spikeh

Recording Mon 19 Feb 2007 @ 5:30pm

We're having a few weeks off practicing / gigs to record a few more songs. Things are going slowly at the moment, but recording will commence tonight and we should have some vocals for the three songs we already have online in the next few days, plus a few more recordings in the weeks to come.

Our next gig is on Friday 16th March 2007 at Riffs on Station Road, Blackpool. We've invited Gundown Sunday, Chang and Intravenous in Furs along to play with us.

- Spikeh

More gigs & reviews Mon 19 Feb 2007 @ 5:30pm

I've updated the gigs page with an additional March gig and added a review & pictures from our gig at the Royal Oak last Friday.

Our next gig is at the Blue Room THIS SUNDAY - 25th Feb. I'm very much looking forward to this one - we're playing with Chang, CSOD, HCOM and WPBN. We're on first @ 8pm, so even if you're not in to the heavier stuff, get yourselves down for some Hind-D action :)

- Spikeh

Hind-D Support 'Tallica Sat 03 Feb 2007 @ 5:30pm

Two updates in less than a week? Mad, I know... but this is well deserved I believe :)

We've managed to secure a gig at Riffs supporting 'Tallica, who are apparently one of the best Metallica tribute acts around! Not exactly massive news, but to be honest we're ecstatic - many of us are heavily into Metallica - and to support a band that devote themselves to them is an awesome prospect :D

So put it in your diary right now... 21st April 2007 - 'Tallica & Hind-D at Riffs.

- Spikeh

Gig success and website update Thurs 01 Feb 2007 @ 2:00pm

First and foremost I'd like to thank everyone who came down to our "come back" gig on Thursday 25th Jan. It was a brilliant night overall and it seems like everyone involved enjoyed themselves :D We had the place pretty busy for a Thursday! Let's hope it's a sign of things to come :)

Thanks also go out to Shen & Devil 2 Pay who both put on awesome shows and were great sports, to Riffs for allowing us to play and to my friend Garry who took all the pictures for us.

We've managed to secure quite a few more gigs from our performance, so check out the gigs page for dates and details.

Website news - I've updated the Gallery page with pictures / reviews of last Thursday's gig and updated the Band page with a little bit more biography, member detail and pictures of us all.

- Spikeh

Next gig date! Wed 10th Jan 2006 @ 3:30pm

Sorry I've not updated the site in a while - many, many reasons, none of which any of you will be interested in, but hey ho! :)

Some of you will know that we've finally got ourselves a singer! We've taken Rob Douglas back on and we're getting him up to speed on the new songs. I've updated the band page with Rob's details :)

Because we're now back to a full line up, we've booked a few gigs. Our first "come back" gig is on Thursday 25th Jan (2 weeks away!) at Riffs with Devil 2 Pay and Shen. Should be a blinder, and I can't say I'm not jealous that Johnny gets to play TWO gigs in one night! He's a homo anyway, so that makes up for it :)

We're also playing a jam night at the Royal Oak in Poulton on 16th Feb.

More information available on the gigs page.

- Spikeh

All three tracks re-uploaded Friday 3rd Nov 2006 @ 4:30pm

All three of our uploaded tracks are now re-mixed, re-mastered and re-uploaded.

Nothing changed in terms of structure, but it's a learning experience for me and I've taken some advice from various friends and acquaintances.

- Spikeh

1 more track & band update Thurs 2nd Nov 2006 @ 3:30pm

I've just uploaded Vicious Cycle and added it to the music player. I've also re-uploaded Emancipation and I'm in the middle of re-mixing / mastering Regret too.

We've had quite a few singer auditions (as per usual) and still have quite a few to go! But we've got some good potentials and it's looking positive... you'll know as soon as we do! Looking forward to getting back out there gigging... especially with our new material :)

- Spikeh

Tracks Online! Sun Sep 24 2006 @ 4:00pm

At long last we've managed to record a few tracks, mix them to a decent standard and get them online! We've recorded four tracks - Emancipation, Regret, Lost and Vicious Cycle. Only Regret and Emancipation have been uploaded today - Lost and Vicious Cycle will follow shortly!

Unfortunately all tracks are currently instrumental. We have quite a few singer auditions coming up in the next few weeks, so hopefully that'll change sometime soon!

So, get over to the music section and fill your boots! :D

- Spikeh

The search continues... Sat Sep 16 2006 @ 8:00pm

Sorry for the lack of updates recently but there's not been much to report as we've been busy getting Johnny up to speed, recording, auditioning singers and trialing a singer.

Unfortunately the singer we've been trialing hasn't worked out - I'd like to take a few seconds out to thank him for his time for the past few weeks. So, as Hind-D celebrate their one year anniversary (around the 3rd Sept), we also revert back to searching for singers.

Yet again I implore anyone who knows an available singer, has a friend who likes to sing in their spare time or knows of any untapped talent to send them our way. No experience required, you just need to be able to hold a tune, have a professional attitude and fit in with the band!

On a positive note - we've been recording our tunes recently and we shall be doing for the next few weeks. There'll be some recordings online soon - mainly for any potential singers to check out.

- Spikeh

New Guitarist Mon Jul 31st 2006 @ 8:00am

Not much action on the Hind-D front at the moment as we've been concentrating on trying to get a singer & guitarist (yet again!).

Fortunately I've been friends with one of the guitarists in Devil 2 Pay for a while who came along to jam with us the week after Tom left. There were a few problems with work, but I'm now very pleased to welcome Johnny into the band.

Johnny's style compliments Hind-D's sound - he add's even more weird, Tom Morello style effects and over 10 years of gigging experience.

Hats off to the Zebras!

- Spikeh

Hind-D guitarist auditions taking place! Tue Jul 11th 2006 @ 8:00pm

No! This isn't the beginning of the end of Hind-D - we're just restructuring!

Due to the recent direction we've been taking (heavy rock / metal / technical rock) the band has made the decision to part company with one of our guitarists, Tom. Tom's one of the nicest guys we know, but unfortunately he's just not into the style of music we're currently playing.

We wish Tom luck with his other project, The Wheeljacks and thank him for dedicating himself to us for the past 11 months :)

So on that note - if there are any budding guitarists out there that are into our music or any kind of rock / metal, give me a shout and we'll arrange a jam.

- Spikeh

Hind-D looking for a singer Sat Jun 25th 2006 @ 10:00am

After much thought and many discussions, Hind-D came to a mutual decision for Rob, our singer to leave the band. We're all still friends and it's a bit of a blow to lose Rob as he fit right in, but we're thinking positively and on the search for a replacement.

So if you, or anyone you know likes our stuff and would like to audition, contact Chris and we'll get you down for an audition.

- Spikeh

Gig cancellation Fri Jun 16th 2006 @ 8:00pm

Unfortunately we've had to cancel our Lancaster gig due to unforseen circumstances. A real big sorry to Shaun who asked us to play in the first place and to the Yorkshire House for letting them down :(

We'll try not to do it too often!

- Spikeh

Gig & Band News Sat Jun 10th 2006 @ 3:00pm

Been a bit busy so not had time to update the site this week. We played with Limousine last Saturday at West Coast Rock Café. Gig went very well - really enjoyed it, but we've decided to take a short hiatus to work on our sound.

So - the Lancaster gig on 21st of June will be our last gig for a little bit - give us a few months and we'll be back with you - probably playing a gig in Blackpool every 2-3 weeks.

We're waiting from some pictures that were taken by Helen on the 3rd June gig - as soon as I get them I'll upload! They should be pretty good... the camera equipment she was waving around all night looked pretty impressive!

- Spikeh

Gallery Updated Mon May 29th 2006 @ 2pm

We played the Blue Room jam night last night. I've updated the gallery with a few pics and a mini review. Also added a review and some comments made by others on our 11th May debut gig.

Also, the band page is now complete.

While I'm here:

Get yo'self there foo'!

- Spikeh

HindD.co.uk launched! Sat May 27th 2006 @ 11pm

Welcome to the new Hind-D website! Sorry it's taken so long to get up and running but there's been very little time in between work, practice and arranging gigs :(

Anyway - as you can see from the menu at the top, there's a plethora of options for you to explore. We'll try to keep the site updated as much as possible with our gigs and band news.

For the time being - why not go and check out the pics / videos for our debut gig @ Jenx Blackout in the gallery section or check out our upcoming gigs.

Don't forget - we're playing with Limousine at West Coast Rock Café on Sat 3rd June!

- Spikeh
